Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American broadcaster. Her current role is working as a sportscaster at ESPN and is anchor for SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. She is the daughter television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from age nine. Her skills were instrumental in helping her get her first job as a production assistant for Univision Miami in which she assisted the production of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was then employed by the CBS station as the sports reporter. She moved to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to become a reporter at the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. The stories she covered were about immigration and drug trafficking in both Texas and Mexico. The duties of anchoring on sports and weather was regularly asked for. Later, she was anchor and reporter for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She did pieces on MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was the producer of Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor. The show was commissioned as a anchor of the sports program by Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. It was the same role in Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on the UniMas Network. Antonietta Collin's parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. Then, they moved to Mexico City and she was born there on the 22nd of November in 1985. She also has an older sibling. Her family left in 1992 Mexico and moved to Miami. In 1992, the couple divorced soon after. In 1995, she was remarried Fabio Fajardo, an engineer in the naval sector who passed away in 2006 after suffering from kidney cancer. In the summer of the year 2006, Antonietta spent an entire week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was employed there. As a senior at high school, but having a clear vision of what she wanted to do for her life, Antonietta visited at the University of Mount Union to determine if the school was suitable for her needs. At the end of the day she fell in love with the university. They also offered her a an academic major. After high school, she graduated and enrolled into media school at the university. Mark Bergmann - her professor and director of WRMU (91.1 FM) in which she was a part of. It was he who inspired her faith and confidence, as well as whose enthusiasm for Journalism deeply touched her. As a result, she was determined to exceed his expectations, never letting him down.
